I'm back baby!

At the risk of sounding like a tree hugging, NPR tote bag carrying, NORML card carrying, genuine bleeding heart Liberal, I've been pretty down this week. I guess I just allowed myself to forget about how uninformed yet dogmatic many people in this country are. The election sure brought me back to reality. For a few days I found it hard to write without immediately getting angry and preachy. Not that angry and preachy are inherently bad things, but they're nothing without the comedy or the insight. Without the latter, you're not any better of a comedian than the stereotypical "ComicView" hack who announces, "Remember when you were a kid and you had a big wheel?!" Yes, I do. Now where's the joke?

I was sinking deeply into a Grand Thefto Auto:San Andreas fueled depression. Then, my lovely wife reminded me of something. For the next four years this country is going to desperately need passionate, funny and dissenting opinions. Someone who's speaking out against the kind of simplistic, colonialist behavior that this country voted to re-elect might be met with the open arms of both the critical and book buying public. That really hit home. I can already see the type of career that I want to have. To get there, I have to attack stuff like this head on.

So, thanks to my wife, I'm back to work.
